Formation of life safety culture: social, psychological and historical excursion

Purpose. To demonstrate the evolution of cultural practices, united by the term «safety culture».
Methods. General logical methods, conceptual analysis, retrospective analysis, problem-chronological method, synchronic method, prototypical approach, ideal-typical approach, typological approach.
Findings. The safety culture is a multiple-aspects phenomenon and includes two dimensions: a safety culture «from down» and a safety culture «from top». Both dimensions are in a complex relationship, which is reflected in a large array of ethnographic, historical, psychological and sociological data.
Application field of research. The specific character of everyday safety practices is of fundamental importance in the process of forming of life safety culture. Conclusion. The formation of life safety culture is to be carried out within the process of socialization in the form of teaching key skills, giving the high priority to safety issues.
